All the broken bits that make you jump up
And grassy bits in between
All the matter in the world is how much I like you.

Wax off, wax on [

I think most of Hufflepuff is ill. It seems like our house has become a den of contagion. As for me, I'm fairing well. I consume a fair amount of vitamin C though and get enough physical activity (what with Prefect rounds and such) that I'm in good health. You know, I've heard muggles have a way of immunising for the flu. Maybe we should look into that?

Seventh year is more difficult than I'd imagined. The closer we get to NEWTS, the more I start to panic. I'm only 17. I don't KNOW what I want to do for the rest of my life and I don't even want to think about exams that can determine what I'm ABLE to do for the rest of my life. But it's ALL the professors go on about. And what if I fail horribly and all I can do is be like...a JANITOR??? SCHOOL IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE THIS SERIOUS.

I AM READY TO BE DONE ALREADY. CAN WE PLEASE HAVE FUN NOW?

I hate to alarm anyone, however I have a slight problem and help of a more discrete nature would be appreciated. And is needed. Urgently. That spell wasn't supposed to work quite this way!

Abby will not panic...OH MY GOD WE'RE GOING TO DIE [

Attention Hufflepuff. PLEASE REMAIN CALM. We, your Prefects, are here to help during this crisis and Professor Beckham is on her way. Just stay calm, breathe, and remember it's likely nothing serious. DO NOT PANIC. EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL.

[Private to Charlie]

I CAN'T HANDLE THIS! WHAT'S GOING ON? WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE AREN'T WE? OH MY GOD I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE. WHY ARE WE PREFECTS??? I WANT MY MUMMY. WHY DID THEY TAKE COLIN FIRST??? WHAT IF THEY'RE TORTURING HIM FOR INFORMATION? WHAT DO WE DO????

I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS.

Aren't Ravenclaws the smart ones? [

Hey other Prefects? Have you noticed an abnormally large amount of Ravenclaw first years milling around after their curfew? And unable to get into their Common Room? It's a little weird, really. I mean, there are the usual number who keep forgetting their passwords and such, but the number of Ravenclaws seems disproportionate. I just wondered if anyone else noticed that.

On another note, I'm settling in well. I've gotten everything unpacked and in relative order and I'm feeling really good about my homework situation for the next couple of months. All in all, my last year is looking good! Kate even said she'd be nicer!

Post-Party Wrap-Up [

I hope everyone enjoyed the party! Phoebe and I put a lot of work into it and it was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves. Everyone thank Paddie Prang for the tech work, which he did for free, and the recommendation on the DJ. He really was pretty ace! I loved all of your costumes but I have a couple pointy hats around if anyone is missing one.

I'd also like to say sorry to anyone that I inadvertently sprayed. I didn't mean to get you wet and, contrary to rumours, I was not starting an all boy wet t-shirt contest. I'm also sorry about the little slip of language. I swear I don't really curse in public that often! So if I offended anyone, I apologise.

Today is Diagon Alley day! Mum and dad are taking us and I think the Thomas' might be meeting up with us like usual. But they usually just let us run amok. Does anyone want to meet up for a bit of shopping?

Party Party Party!!! [

Party planning is under way in the Finnigan household! Mum is in her element and she and Aunt Parvati have been giggling like schoolgirls even more than usual. I have my costume (Pheebs and I had a great idea!) and am getting everything set at the bar. Our regulars weren't too pleased to hear that rowdy teenagers would be taking over Finnigan's Wake and Old Calum says no one better disturb his place by the fire. Young Calum wanted to come but I told him it was Hogwarts students only.

HOWEVER, I AM ISSUING A PLEA. WE NEED SOME HELP IN THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT. ANYONE HAVE IDEAS???

Pheebs and I will be taking care of the bar and we've got Car Bombs on special (Daddy gave me a dirty look for that but mum thought it was hilarious). If you don't know that particular drink, it's 3/4 pint of Guinness with a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream and a shot of Jameson's dropped inside. And you have to chug it at the bar. It's TRADITION! You can's sip a car bomb! We'll also have jell-o shots! Don't worry - the normal selection of beers, liquors, and mixers will be there and, growing up in a bar (and with Pheebs practically growing up here), we can mix anything!

We've got a few contests planned and I would suggest not wearing lipstick unless you've charmed it to stay with chapstick over it. There will be a "Guess the Chapstick Flavour" game that should be a riot! And, while there are prizes for the best couple, you don't have to COME with a date. That's only for people who want to coordinate their costumes. They don't even have to be DATE dates. It's all about the costumes!

Gavin is throwing the party for Fifth Years upstairs and she's going all out with the retro theme! You guys also get the benefit of the Mother Collective's cooking. I may be forced to sneak upstairs for a bite or two. Mum will be there too, making sure the lot of you have everything you need and are having a good time. And hopefully not making you play Spin The Bottle. I remember my birthday one year... It'll be great!

[Private to Pheebs]

This is the list of prizes we've come up with so far for the contests. I'm writing it so we don't forget. Is there anything we should change? Mum is purchasing all the prizes. She is so weird sometimes!

Best Vicar - A pair of knickers
Best Tart - A kiss from the boy of her choice
Best Ensemble (Tart) - A subscription to Playwitch
Best Ensemble (Vicar) - A subscription to Playwizard
Best Ensemble (Mixed) - Each gets 7 minutes of private time in the back room for the activity of their choice.
Best Couple - A pair of furry handcuffs, a whip, and a his and hers set of blindfolds

I think we should have another contest or two though and I don't know what to do. Or games! We could play Twister! It'll be fantastic! I think I like that idea. I don't have a prize for the Flavour Game. Should there be a boy winner and a girl winner? I'm SO excited! But a little flustered by our costumes...I'll look okay won't I? I think Colin is coming.

Oh yay! Oh woe is me! [

I think I found the perfect dress!!! It's blue and silver and not too showy but really really pretty. AND I found a mask to match! I'd feel a bit better if I had a date or something so I didn't have to walk in alone, but at least I'll look okay. Pheebs and I got magazines yesterday while we were supposed to be on Herbology day so we had some idea what we were looking for, but now comes the fun part...deciding on hair and make-up. It's going to be a busy evening! Peaches, Pheebs is coming in for the night to do practice styles! If any of you girls want to come by to check out our hair magazines or practice hairstyles, feel free. We fully intend on having an evening of pre-ball squeeing. Complete with snacks!

Gavin, have you thought of a theme for the fifth years party yet? I don't think fifth years at the Tarts and Vicars party would be very good. Mum didn't seem to think of that when she suggested the theme and I thought tarts were like the fruit sort until the invite arrived. I don't know what I'm going to wear to that yet, but I'm really excited to have everyone over to the pub! It should be a roaring good time!

I can't believe Austria is almost over. It's flown by so fast!

I'm Alive! [

I made it through Make Friends With A Muggle day in one whole piece and didn't even get lost/left/injured. That is an accomplishment that feels like it should be celebrated! Maybe it's because I didn't see Theo all day.

Theodore, are we carrying around bad karma? I will miss you, dear friend, but I'm afraid we can't see one another again until we're out of Austria. It seems disaster always strikes and I don't want to be left in Salzburg too. It'll look very suspicious.

I met my muggle in a book shop. Nice boy. Cute smile. He looked sort of like Colin. He reminded me of soemone but I couldn't quite think of who... Colin. I've been so busy lately, I feel out of the loop. Where is Colin?!?!?

Why is it that Hufflepuff is always left out of the drama? Where are the dramatic Puffs at. Stephen, can't you have a love triangle or something? Maybe Charlie and Flynn could date and have a dramatic break-up. We're being overshadowed, guys. Get out there and create mischief!

But, on to other topics, Munich is beautiful! I just hope no fights break out. But I have my quill to take notes.
